در دوره آموزشی تقویت مکالمه، قصد داریم روی موضوعات متداولی که در زندگی روزمره با آنها برخورد می کنیم، با همدیگر بحث و گفتگو داشته باشیم. این دوره فرصت بسیار مناسبی است که دیدگاه های خود را با افراد دیگر به اشتراک بگذاریم.

In lesson 1 we’ll be covering a topic in Travel. Some of the themes that we’re going to discuss are following:

  • Where did you spend your last vacation? What did you do?
  • What is the best and worst thing about traveling to a new country?
  • Where do you prefer to stay when you go on vacation? (Hotel, hostel, Airbnb house / room, etc.)
  • What are your best travel tips?
  • What is the strangest food you’ve seen or eaten while on vacation?
  • What do you like to do while you are traveling? (i.e. relax, shop, sight see, experience local culture…)

In lesson 2 we’ll be covering a topic in Cuisine. Some of the themes that we’re going to discuss are following:

  • What is your national dish?
  • Do you like to cook? Who cooks the best in your family?
  • What is your favorite snack?
  • What unhealthy food do you love?
  • What food did your mother always tell you to eat and not to eat?
  • What food helps with which health problem?
  • What is the future of food in your country?
  • What kinds of food did you eat when you were a child? Do you eat the same things now?
  • What is the best food to eat when you are sick?

In lesson 3 we’ll be covering a topic in Music. Some of the themes that we’re going to discuss are following:

  • How do you feel about your country’s traditional music?
  • Should people try to modernize traditional music?
  • How is your country’s traditional music different from other countries’ traditional music?
  • What kind of music do you listen to when you want to dance?
  • What kind of music do you listen to when you are sad?
  • Do you think music is getting better or worse?
  • What kind of music will your kids listen to?
  • What music did your parents listen to?

In lesson 4 we’ll be covering a topic in Culture. Some of the themes that we’re going to discuss are following:

  • What are some things that define a culture? For example, music, language, ...
  • What do you think is interesting about your culture?
  • What has surprised you when you've met people from other countries?
  • Who in your culture do you admire most?
  • What your culture are you most proud about?
  • Why do you think culture is important? If you could change one thing about your culture, what would it be?
  • Would you ever consider marrying or dating someone from another culture?
  • Would you ever consider living permanently in a country other than your home country? Why or why not?
  • What does it mean to be polite in your culture?
  • What is considered rude in your culture?

In lesson 5 we’ll be covering a topic in News. Some of the themes that we’re going to discuss are following:

  • Do you think that news is censored in some countries?
  • Is the news censored in your country?
  • Will newspapers disappear in the future?
  • How does American news differ from your country's news?
  • What is your favorite section of the newspaper to read?
  • How often do you watch the news?
  • How has technology changed the way we consume news? How has it changed how the news is reported?
  • What do you think about how the news is reported in your country?

In lesson 6 we’ll be covering a topic in Childhood. Some of the themes that we’re going to discuss are following:

  • What was the best thing about your childhood?
  • What do you miss most about being a child?
  • Do you think that children these days have a better or worse childhood than your generation? Why?
  • What do you think is most important for a happy childhood?
  • What about your childhood do you wish you could change?
  • Where did you grow up? How did that affect your childhood?
  • What were some of your favorite activities when you were a child?
  • Who, besides your parents, had the biggest impact on your childhood?

In lesson 7 we’ll be covering a topic in Smoking. Here are some of the themes that we’re going to discuss:

  • Have you ever smoked cigarettes? A cigar? A pipe?
  • How much does it cost to smoke in your country?
  • Some countries put a high tax on tobacco products to discourage smoking. Do you think this is fair to smokers?
  • What are some health problems that smoking can cause?
  • Does smoking give you a better image or make you look more sophisticated?
  • How do you feel about women smoking?
  • How do you feel about children smoking?
  • What is the youngest age that a person should be allowed to smoke?

In lesson 8 we’ll be covering a topic in Health. Here are some of the themes that we’re going to discuss:

  • What is the best thing to do to stay healthy?
  • Do you consider yourself to be healthy? Why?
  • How often do you exercise?
  • What is your diet like? Do you eat mostly fruits and vegetables?
  • What do you think about the health care system in your country? How could it be improved?
  • People are living longer and longer thanks to medicine. How long would you like to live? How about forever?
  • What is healthy food?
    • Do you pay much attention to what you eat?
    • Do you think it is more important for you to eat healthy or tasty food?
  • What is healthy about not eating after 6 p.m?
    • Do you try to follow this rule?
    • Are you a success?

In lesson 9 we’ll be covering a topic in Family. Here are some of the themes that we’re going to discuss:

  • Are you married?
  • Are you the oldest among your brothers and sisters?
  • Are your parents strict?
  • What do you and your family like to do together?
  • What do you think of married couples who decide not to have any child?
  • What is the perfect number of children to have?
  • Should parents give their children an allowance?
  • How often does your family eat dinner together?
  • How should parents discipline their children?
  • What's the best thing about your dad?
  • Describe the perfect family.

In lesson 10 we’ll be covering a topic in Manners. Here are some of the themes that we’re going to discuss:

  • Can you think of some good manners that are bad manners in another country?
  • What culture do you think is the most polite? Explain.
  • What advice would you give a foreigner visiting your country who would like to show good manners? Why?
  • How closely do you think good manners are related to income and social status?
  • To what extent is the idea of good manners used to control women's behavior in society?
  • What manners have you found acceptable in other countries that would be bad manners in your country?
  • Do you say "hi" to people even if they are strangers? Why? Why not?
